I'm Christy Boyette,
I'm mom to three girls and wife to Tyler, who is a pastor in Belmont, NC. I grew up in South Florida and currently live in Gastonia, NC. I started in the health insurance industry because I have personally been enrolled in Medicaid, health share plans, Marketplace ACA plans, and even spent a year uninsured. Health insurance is overly complicated and I enjoy helping people figure out what plans are best for their needs. My model is to educate you about different options so you can make informed decisions. I have a no-pressure, laid back approach, and will enjoy helping you solve your healthcare puzzle!

I am an independent broker and represent multiple plans in your area. I will compare them based on your needs and help you select what best fits for you. My services are always free, I am paid directly by the insurance carrier. I serve all of NC, SC, and FL.
Medicare Part A
Medicare Part A covers hospital care, including inpatient stays, skilled nursing facilities, home health care, and hospice. It mainly covers your costs when youâre admitted to the hospital overnight.
Medicare Part B
Medicare Part B covers outpatient care, like doctor visits, outpatient surgeries, lab work, X-rays, ambulance services, and medical equipment. In general, if itâs not covered by Part A, it may be covered by Part B.
What is not covered by Medicare?
Original Medicare doesnât cover everything. It does not include prescription drugs, dental, vision, hearing, or routine physical exams. Original Medicare can leave you exposed to some high copays and coinsurance.
Medicare Advantage / Part C
Medicare Advantage plans combine all your Medicare part A and part B benefits into one plan through a private insurance company. Most include medical, prescription, and extra perks like dental, vision, and hearing. They use a network of doctors and hospitals to help keep costs low, and each plan includes a yearly limit on out-of-pocket expenses.
Medicare Supplements
Medicare Supplement plans work alongside Original Medicare to help cover what Medicare doesnât pay in full. They offer predictable costs and the freedom to see any doctor nationwide who accepts Medicare. While they donât include drug, dental, vision, or hearing benefits, you can easily add those with separate plans.
Individual Health
If youâre under 65 and donât qualify for Medicare, you can get coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace (ACA plans). These plans cover doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, and preventive services. The government often subsidizes these plans based on your income to make them more affordable.
I represent multiple "off marketplace" options. If you no longer want an ACA plan or are getting little to no subsidies, there are some other great options. See more below :)
Vision & Dental
I represent Delta Dental & VSP - if you are looking for stand alone vision and/or dental, email me! You can enroll anytime during the year.
If you need life insurance, call me or click on the link below! There are lots of options. If you are young and healthy, please get it now :)
Here is how to think through health insurance options and cost:
Please know, health insurance is expensive :) If you do not qualify for subsidies, be prepared to spend hundreds or more/ per month.
If you are a couple making less than 85k jointly per year or a family of 4 making less than 115k-ish, it is typically best to go through the health insurance marketplace with the subsidies you will receive. (Think $200-$900/ family with subsidy help)
If you are making more money than that and have a preexisting condition that you are receiving consistent medical care for, you probably still need to go through the marketplace to get the best care.
If you are making more than 150k- ish, are relatively healthy, and still want traditional insurance there are:Â
Private PPO plans - these are on the high end range, but, they are more affordable than full price marketplace plans and offer low deductibles and copays. (Think $1500-$2200/family)
If you are healthy and willing to be a savvy medical consumer, there are two options that prices are based off age and health:Â
Indemnity plans. These plans tell you what they will pay you if you go to the Dr. or hospital and you are responsible for the rest. Built correctly, they can be a great option! (these are probably what you are getting ads for that say they will save you $100s/ month) (Think 500+/family)
Health Share. I like One Share Health, they generally handle the billing, offer fixed cost for ER and Dr. visits, use a large nationwide network, and have some other perks as well! (Think 500-800/month for family)
There are indemnity plans more like $100-$200/month, they are not comprehensive and you would take on some risk. If you want to do that, you can!
